She is back in the would of cameras, spotlights, and endless creative energy. Yes, she did it – she returned to modeling after a long break!
Future glossy magazine and runway model Iuliia Malashenko was born in Bryansk. She began her career during her student years, cementing her success with contracts in Asian countries.
When Iuliia Malashenko, aka Lady N, started a new life in Europe, she was already around thirty years old and had fifteen years of successful career and business experience under her belt, as well as the status “Miss Office”, awards, and prizes – a huge professional background. The girl embarked on a new path in her professional life. Full-time work did not give her freedom, and Iuliia really wanted to travel, so one day she quit her job and switched to freelancing.
“I started spending time in other countries and gradually realized that it is not necessery to spend your whole life in one city. If you see opportunities elsewhere, don’t be afraid to move. I spend one winter in Belgium. And then I decided to move there permanently.”
“Belgium is an expensive country. I rent an apartment, but I don’t compromise on my habit of living close to the center and stations.”
A lot of time passed, and Iuliia had no plans to return to modeling, thinking that she would not meet the age criteria. But the world of modeling has also changed a lot, with standards and age criteria changing significantly. Lady N’s appearance is her calling card, which brought her back to modeling and led to success on the catwalks.
Through Facebook and Instagram, the model searched for photographers and agencies, not getting discouraged by rejections. Her motivation was so strong that Iuliia was able to achieve what she wanted. Offers of collaboratoin poured in, but it wasn’t without its difficulties.
“Sometimes we, as models, represent a product. For example, at shoe or weddingaccessory exhibitions. But there are other areas – you work as a character, almost like a hostess. You meet guests, smile, and support the company’s image. This is called “immagine” – “beatiful picture”. The range of employment opportunities for models is wide, but many of the offers are low-paying.”
In addition to modeling, Iuliia has revealed herself as the founder of her own PR company: a natural desire to create led her to start her own business.
“There is a perception that models eventually ‘retire’ because there is a peak in their career. I don’t belive that, by the way. I know of examples where models become actresses or move to the ‘other side’ of the fashion world, choosind careers as stylists, photographers, producers, or designers.
Industry standards are changing dramatically right now, and I definitely like this trend. The idea of starting my own business was very clear to me; I’ve always liked being an independent entrepreneur.”
